I really love this, the depth of it is amazing. I mean it really makes you question the world you are living in and the extent of happiness that can be found in the solitude of ones own thoughts. I really feel that the pixelated world is the world he lives in, its is bright and colorful, but doesn't seem to have happiness there. The animated world is the really world in my opinion, dark and sullen, but he can't find happiness there either for he is just a shell of a man who can only find freedom in his owns thoughts. This really made me look at myself and consider how I looked upon the world. I really hope you make more like this.
You don't have to have amazing Disney animation skills in order to tell a story, illustrate a concept, or convey an emotion. The users who comment that they "just don't like it" never tell why, and never look at it from all sides.
The meaning of this animation, (since you don't even seem to understand it fully, yourself,) is probably best left to the public's personal interpretations. Sometimes the only point to a work of art is to impress upon the viewer a particular emotion.
I have a few feelings about it; mundanity of everyday life, how media controls our lives, mid-life crisis, drugs, etc! It's surreal, it's interesting, and the animation complements the music (and vice versa) very well!
I really love how the two characters are parallel. As if in a parallel dimension... and in the end it looks like the drawn dude smiles...barely. And I noticed he is sitting on a drawn sofa. C: I LOVE IT! The music flows awesometastically with the animation. YOU SIR HAS TALENT.
the few things i noticed after watching it a few times was that when he jumps out the window and lands theres still yellow on his shirt from when he was game-ish like, that when he comes out the water and the fish splashes the music goes "splish"(same with the jumping out the window when the glass breaking) and then at the end when his world isn't the same old balanced world it usually is he smiles :D, so if im right, was this about him not liking the same old plain world he lived in? He didn't like it to be balanced, so he when out and tried to look for a place where it wasn't so balanced?....I'm prolly over thinking this D;
I been meaning to comment on this for a while. Just been lazy.
I liked that this animation was bit more conceptual than most of your other stuff. It's cool how they make the artist concentrate more on the visual aspects of the work in order to express the message. So what I need to observe is now in a different form. I probably will never get the meaning 100% but it is fun to interpret it in my own way.
The mixed use of pixels and vector in flash conveyed the [interpreted] message nicely. I liked that how you sometimes switched between dull color to very bright colors between two "worlds". It makes the dude appear more unfitting haha. Ah...the music was very odd to me but I liked that it created extremely unfamiliar atmosphere. [Almost uncomfortable. Your voice appeared unusually creepy but it made that specific scene very interesting ] I think it matches very well that the character in there looks uncomfortable himself. haha
